Annual Mighty Tidy Clean Up Day is Oct. 12 in Golden Valley

Golden Valley's annual Mighty Tidy Clean-Up Day is 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Brookview Park.

The Mighty Tidy Clean Up Day was established to provide residents a monitored site to dispose of items that they no longer use and that cannot be donated like old mattresses and sofas, broken bicycles, ancient appliances, unwanted tires, and outdated electronics (computers and televisions).

To drop off items you must enter your vehicle at Brookview Parkway from the north along Winnetka Avenue (it is a one-way for the event). Workers collect the appropriate fee (cash or check only) and direct residents to one of three lots:

  • Lot 1—electronics, computers, appliances (with and without Freon), TVs, tires, batteries, and fluorescent light bulbs
  • Lot 2—scrap metal and paper shredding
  • Lot 3—sofas, chairs, mattresses, and miscellaneous items (construction debris, lumber, swing sets, bricks, etc)
  • Donations Lot—Free collection site for gently used furniture/household goods for Bridging, textiles and non-perishable food items for PRISM.
Paper Shredding

One of the best ways to combat identity theft is through the safe and secure destruction of personal documents. Bring papers loose in a paper bag (boxes will be returned to you). Staples and paper clips are ok. No binders or plastic material (computer disks, CDs, etc) will be accepted. Available for residents only and not businesses or other commercial enterprises.
