5 Things to Do for Father's Day in the Three Rivers Park District

Father's Day Lunch and Outdoor Activities

Where: Baker Near-Wilderness Settlement in Maple Plain

When: noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 16

Cost: $12 adults, $8 for children.

Why go: Treat Dad to a special lunch of brats and burgers on the grill at the log cabin lodge of the Baker Near-Wilderness Settlement. After lunch, check out activities such as rock climbing, archery, nature programs, and more. Lunch at noon. The naturalist-led activity time period will be from 1-3 p.m. and families will choose two of the activities. Reservations are required, by phone only.  Call 763-559-6700.

Pa and Ma Day

Where: The Landing in Shakopee

When: noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 16.

Cost: $5 adults, $3 for children.

Why go: Treat your Pa and Ma to a day of old-fashioned frontier fun. Watch a fashion show in the Town Square. Ride on a trolley pulled by Percheron draft horses. The gift shop will be open and food will be available for purchase. One parent is admitted free with each child paid admission.

Free Family Fun Day: Amazing Fathers in Nature

Where: Richardson Nature Center in Bloomington

When: 3-4 p.m. Sunday, June 16.

Cost: Free

Why go: Discover examples of dads in nature in honor of Father’s Day. Learn about different animal parenting techniques during this self -guided hike along the Aspen Trail. The trail is approximately ½ mile. Meet one of Richardson Nature Center’s captive animals and learn about how it cares for its young.

Feeding Frenzy

Where: Eastman Nature Center, Elm Creek Park Reserve in Maple Grove

When: 1-3 p.m. Sunday, June 16

Cost: Free

Why go: Look on as the salamander snacks, turtles taste, and frogs feed. Different animals will be fed throughout the afternoon. Bring a camera. Drop in anytime.

Go Geocaching

Where: In the Three Rivers Park District, patrons can rent GPS units for free (first come, first serve with photo identification) at Baker Campground in Maple Plain, Fish Lake Regional Park in Maple Grove, French Regional Park in Plymouth, Hyland Lake Park Reserve in Bloomington, Carver Campground in Victoria.

When: During Three Rivers Park District hours.

Cost: Free
