Tripsters to cruise the scenic St. Croix

The Community Tripsters will enjoy a leisurely cruise along the beautiful St. Croix River on September 17. The paddle wheel boat will visit unique rock formations that were left behind as the glaciers retreated, including the huge stone cross formation for which the St. Croix was named, large glacial potholes, and the old Man of the Dalles. A wonderful lunch, featuring carved roast beef and Caesar salad, will be served on board. On the way home, the group will stop at the Franconia Sculpture Park and pick up an afternoon snack at Eichtens Market in Center City. The boat is not wheelchair accessible. Community Tripsters is a group of fun-loving adults co-sponsored by the cities of New Hope, Crystal, and Brooklyn Center. The cost of the Scenic St. Croix River Boat trip is $58 per person, including motorcoach transportation, lunch, admissions, gratuities, tax and an escort. The coach will leave the southeast corner of the New Hope Ice Arena parking lot, 4949 Louisiana Ave. N., at 9 a.m. and return at 5:15 p.m. For more information or to register, call the New Hope Parks and Recreation office at 763-531-5151. The registration deadline is September 3.
