Family Fun All Week Long in Golden Valley

There's always plenty of different things happening this week in and around Golden Valley. Listed below are a few events and activities to know about and attend. (Do you have a cool event? Let us know in the comments below!)

• The last Concert in the Park event is 7 p.m. tonight, Monday, July 22, at Brookview Park. Stompin' Dixie will entertain with its country rock sound at this free event. The city of Golden Valley's Concert in the Park series will end with this concert for the year. Concerts usually last 60 to 90 minutes and you are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and food or beverages for a picnic with your family and friends. 

• Also the last event for the Golden Valley Police and Fire in the Parks program is this week, 3 p.m., Thursday, July 25, at Gearty Park. Hear about safety, hang out with police and fire department officials, get free ice cream, a free frisbee and a free fun time playing in the spray of a fire truck's fire hose. 

• Penny Carnival for Kids is 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, July 26, at Brookview Park. This event gives children the chance to play fun carnival games for pennies. Come have fun and meet the Golden Valley Patch Editor Stefanie Briggs at one of the carnival game booths!

• The free and fun event "Kids, Cops and Firefighters Fair" is noon Friday, July 26, is an annual family fun event  featuring Radio Disney, the Crystal Police Department, the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office and the West Metro Fire District. It is located at the nearby Crystal Shopping Center off Bass Lake Road and West Broadway in Crystal.

• Check out the family-friendly and free musical “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” 8 p.m. on Thursdays and 9 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays now through Aug. 3 at the New Hope Outdoor Theatre next to New Hope City Hall. The Thursday, July 25, performance will also be signed by an American Sign Language interpreter (or July 26 if it rains). Seating is limited. A $4 free will donation is encouraged.
