The proposed Bottineau Light Rail Transit is a hot topic in Golden Valley and has been for some time.

Golden Valley Patch has been striving to bring you the latest news and information regarding its development.

Like you, we care about what's going on, how it will affect day to day life for residents and business owners and knowing how you feel about it.

More recent news on Bottineau involves a new committee being formed by the city of Golden Valley, feedback on possible health impacts of the LRT and a free tour of the existing light rail downtown to see what its like.

Become a Member of Golden Valley's New Bottineau LRT Planning Advisory Committee
The city of Golden Valley is creating the Bottineau Light Rail Transit (LRT) Planning Advisory Committee to guide the city’s participation in Hennepin County’s Station Area Planning Process, which will involve study and recommendations for future land use near LRT station locations, physical station design elements and vehicle, transit, bicycle and pedestrian connections to proposed stations. The deadline to sign up is by this Friday, July 26.

Take a Four-Hour Light Rail Transit Tour
There may still be one seat left on the free four-hour tour strictly for Golden Valley residents starting at 8:30 a.m. this Saturday, July 27, at City Hall where you will board a bus and go downtown to ride the rail.

The tour will be on the Hiawatha LRT going from Target Field to the 50th Street Station. From there participants will walk along the LRT to the Veterans Affair Hospital Station, examining pre-existing and new development along the Hiawatha LRT corridor. Then re-board the train and continue the journey south to the Mall of America. A bus will be waiting at the Mall of America to bring attendees back to Golden Valley City Hall.

If you can't make it or find that all seats are taken, check back to Golden Valley Patch next week to find out how it went and what participants thought about it.
