Shelter Me 2011: Because Everyone Deserves A Home

Golden Valley's Animal Humane Society benefits from the charity event.

Samantha Strong and her team from Metamorphosis are dedicated environmentalists who wanted to give back to their community.

Metamorphosis is an integrated Design-Build, Leasing, and traditional Real Estate company, and the team feels strongly that having a home is critical for people and animals. This led them to develop the first annual Shelter Me benefit where 100% of the proceeds went to The Minnesota Coalition for the Homeless and Golden Valley’s own Animal Humane Society.

“We wanted to help our neighbors with this event, and that helps us too," Strong says.  "Without wanting to sound too cheesy, it’s karma. What we give, we receive.”

Shelter Me 2011, held last week in Minneapolis, raised more than $1300 and was a lively event with a couldn’t miss line up that included: vegetarian appetizers from Chowgirls Killer Catering, desserts from Muddy Paws Cheesecake,  an array of tunes from DJ Jake Rudh, craft beer from Jason Sowards’ new Harriet Brewing, signed event posters from artist Adam Turman  and personalized sketches of pets from Lintu Art.

As people began arriving, Jake Rudh, who has been recognized as "one of the top 100 reasons to love the Twin Cities" by METRO Magazine, shared his enthusiasm for Shelter Me 2011.

“I like to help make events successful and participate in the community while supporting good causes," he said.  "This event is one of those.”

An interesting mix of music floated through the air and people were caught up in the enthusiasm flowing from the Metamorphosis team. The women shared their visions for business and life as they worked their way through the room welcoming friends, old and new.

The evening was a success, and the women of Metamorphosis hope Shelter Me 2012 is bigger and better.
