New Golden Valley Utility Fee Starts This Month

CenterPoint Energy customers will see between $2 and $206 added to their bills to help fund road projects.

CenterPoint Energy customers in Golden Valley will start seeing a new fee on their bills this month.

The City Council approved a new franchise fee in January in order to pay for infrastructure repairs. The new fees will be  $2 for residential customers, $3.50 for small commercial properties, $22.50 for larger commercial/industrial properties, and $206 for commercial/industrial properties with dual fuel rates.

City officials expect the new fee to bring in $447,000 annually. Among the projects that will benefit from the money will be:

  • The reconstruction of Douglas Drive between Hwy 55 and Medicine Lake Rd,
  • Zane Avenue between Hwy 55 and Golden Valley Road and
  • Lindsay Street between Zane Avenue and Lilac Drive.
