The Beauty Lab is usually closed on Sundays. But on Dec. 2, the local salon and spa was bustling with activity. That's because the company hosted their first-ever craft and art sale - an event that was free to vendors and residents.

When the doors opened at 10 a.m., residents slowly started tricking in, and trickling out with handmade candles, soaps, spices and jewelery in tow.

Owner and Golden Valley resident Kathryn Simpson said that she hopes to make the event an annual occurrence.

"It's all about supporting our community and each other grow our businesses," Simpson said.

Vendors included LTY Boards, Bryn Mawr Soaps, Minnesota Nice Spice, Little Fish Designs, Victoria Talbot Studios, Crush Jewelry and Rupert Hobbes.

Shoppers bought unique instruments from Minneapolis resident Matt Resist, who turns salvaged wood and other recyclable items into instruments. St. Louis Park resident Diane Petron sold fused glass dishes and ornaments.
