Golden Valley Man Charged with Threatening to Kill Neighbor

Police say Timothy Andre Davis threatened to shoot his neighbor after he was asked to turn down his loud music.

A Golden Valley man has been charged with assaulting a neighbor and threatening to shoot him after the neighbor asked him to turn down his loud music.

Timothy Andre Davis, 47, is charged with two felonies: making terroristic threats and fifth-degree assault, each of which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Davis is being held in the Hennepin County Jail on a $30,000 bond and on an outstanding warrant charging him with fourth-degree assault in a secure treatment facility in Minneapolis. An omnibus hearing in his case is scheduled May 1 in Hennepin County District Court.

According to the criminal complaint, compiled by Golden Valley Police Sgt. Dennis Arons, police were called to an apartment in the 1600 block of Douglas Drive just after midnight March 22 after a resident complained that his neighbor had threatened to shoot him.

Police knocked on Davis’ door, and he answered, coming outside into the hallway and holding his left hand behind his back, the complaint says. Because Davis had previously answered the door carrying a knife, the officer told Davis to lie on the ground, and handcuffed him, according to the complaint.

Davis’ neighbor told police that he heard loud music from Davis’ apartment and knocked on the wall, asking him to turn down the volume. He said he didn’t knock on Davis’ door because he feared that Davis would become belligerent, based on past confrontations with him.

When the man asked Davis to turn down the music, Davis responded, “This [expletive] got me [expletive] up. He think I’m playing with him. I’m like, when I catch him, I’m gonna shoot him in his head and he better hope he live to see next month,” the man told police.

The victim told police that Davis had threatened him on four previous occasions, including telling him to “watch his back” because if Davis saw him walking to the bus stop, he would “get” him.

On March 22, Davis accused the victim of being a “snitch” and an informant for the Golden Valley Police Department, according to Arons’ account.

Davis’ criminal record includes three convictions for assault and one for harassment.
