General Mills Recalls Some Cascadian Farm Granola Bars
This is General Mills' second recall involving granola bars in the last month.
This is the second granola bar recall for the Golden Valley-based company in the last month. At the end of September, General Mills issued a voluntary recall of 1,200 Almond Nature Valley Sweet & Salty Nut Granola Bars.
According to the statement released on Tuesday, the recall was issued as "a precaution because peanut pieces in the products may have been sourced from Sunland, Inc., a peanut supplier that recently expanded its recall of peanut ingredients."
Sunland, Inc. is the same company responsible for the large peanut butter recall that includes several well-known brands and a variety of peanut butter products as well as almond butter, cashew butter, tahini, and roasted blanched peanut products.
The Cascadian Farm Granola Bars in question were actually produced in February, so consumers may not have it in their pantries. Still, the company asks consumers to check the "Better if Used By" date.
If the used by date is 01NOV2012 or 02NOV2012, consumers can dispose of the product or contact Cascadian Farm Consumer Services at 1-800-624-4123 for a replacement.
According to the release, no illnesses have been reported.
