House Speaker-designate Paul Thissen announced the Minnesota House of Representatives committee assignments for the 2013-2014 biennium appointing State Representative-elect Mike Freiberg (DFL – Golden Valley) to serve as Vice-Chair of the Government Operations Committee. In addition to serving as Vice-Chair of Government Operations, Rep.-elect Freiberg will serve on the Legacy, State Government Finance and Veterans Affairs and the Environment, Natural Resources, and Agriculture Finance Committees.
“I am honored to serve as Vice-Chair of House Government Operations Committee,” said Rep.-elect Freiberg. “As well as my work on Government Operations, I am also excited about the opportunity to serve on these additional committees that will have significant impacts on our state and district.
“Like many in our community, I recognize that in order for government to have a meaningful impact on our lives, it must run efficiently. I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and engage in the difficult task of improving upon how our government operates so that it can further enrich our communities. My nine years on the Golden Valley City Council have given me knowledge about the public sector and will help me in my role as Vice-Chair.”
Rep.-elect Freiberg works as an attorney for a nonprofit organization committed to improving public health and has also worked as an Adjunct Law Professor at William Mitchell. He lives in Golden Valley with his wife Lauren and children Rose and Joseph.
The Legislative Session is scheduled to begin on January 8, 2013.
