Family-Friendly New Year's Eve Events in the Twin Cities Metro
Get the family together for some fun this New Year's Eve.
Happy New Year!
Celebrate the New Year at Wood Lake Nature Center with family and friends. Follow hundreds of candle-lit luminaries on a trail through cattails and trees while on the lookout for deer, fox and owls.

When: 6-9 p.m.
Why Go: Roast marshmallows over a crackling fire or warm up inside with hot cocoa. Make a craft, play a game, or just sit back and relax.
Cost: $4 per person; free for FOWL members.
Things to know: No pre-registration required; doors open at 6 p.m.
The City of Golden Valley's Park and Recreation Department will host an event at Scheid Park on New Year's Eve. According to its website, event goers can enjoy sledding, skating and other fun winter activities.

When: 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Why Go: There will also be hot cocoa to keep you warm!
Edinborough Park's New Year's Eve Party
The City of Edina's annual New Year's Eve bash provides a great opportunity for families to ring in 2013 together.
When: 6-9 p.m.
Where: Edinborough Park, 7700 York Ave. S., Edina, MN
Why Go: Attendees can get their faces painted, climb the Edinborough Park Peak or simply dance the night away to music. Music provided by the Kidsdance D.J.
Cost: $7 per child, which includes a $1 food voucher. Adults get in free with a paying child.
Things to know: A countdown to 2013 takes place at 8 p.m., with the party running all the way until 9 p.m.
Head to the Plymouth Community Center and attend their family New Year's Eve party.
Where: Plymouth Community Center, 3650 Plymouth Boulevard
When: 6-9 p.m.
Why Go: The event festivities include skating, swimming, open gym, children's crafts, entertainment, face painting and inflatables.
Cost: For fees and to pre-register call 763-509-5200.
Things to know: Included in the price of the event is a free holiday meal.
Bring in the New Year at the crack of noon instead of the midnight hour.
Where: Springbrook Nature Center, 100 85th Avenue NE, Fridley, MN
When: 10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
Why Go: Bring the little ones for games, crafts, snacks, a bonfire and more! At noon, there will be a fantastic beach ball drop.
Cost: $4 per person. Reservations required: Call 763-572-3588 (25 spots out of 100 remain as of Saturday afternoon). Concessions available for an additional cost.
So much to do, so little time before the clock runs out. Partiers at Buck Hill will be able to ski, ride, or tube until midnight, enjoy Kevin Hall's Amazing Magic Show (as seen on America's Got Talent!),

When: 9 a.m. to 1 a.m.
Why Go: Partiers at Buck Hill will be able to ski, ride, or tube until midnight, enjoy Kevin Hall's Amazing Magic Show (as seen on America's Got Talent!), listen to music from the Rythym Junkies with Dean Weisser & Leslee Mckee, and feast in the Whittier Room. The event will be capped off by a fireworks display at midnight. Free "Glitter Glam Hair-Dos" and tarot card readings will also be available.
Cost: Regular cost of lift ticket and rental. Late night lift ticket is $15.
