Child Starting Kindergarten? What You Should Know.

Kindergarten information and registration nights have been scheduled at all Robbinsdale Area elementary schools, including the two magnet schools in the district.

On February 9, 2012, all eight attendance area elementary schools—Forest, Lakeview, Meadow Lake, Neill, Noble, Northport, Sonnesyn and Zachary Lane—will hold their kindergarten information and registration nights from 6-8 pm at each school, and the family’s incoming kindergartner is welcome to attend.

Spanish-speaking families are encouraged to arrive at 5:30 for translation assistance.

Robbinsdale Spanish Immersion magnet school will hold its parent-only information night on February 16 from 6-8pm in the multi-purpose room.

The new Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) magnet school, set to open in the fall at Olson Elementary School, will hold a family information evening on February 13, 2012, from 6-8pm.

Children are welcome to attend that information night and to engage in some activities while parents learn more about the new program.

Families can determine their attendance-area school by visiting www.rdale.org and clicking on “School Finder”.  Remember that Minnesota state law requires early childhood screening before a child enters kindergarten.

If your child will be five years old on or before September 1, 2012, and he or she has not been screened, you can visit the Robbinsdale Area Schools Community Education page at www.ced.rdale.org and click on “Early Childhood Screening”.
