Armstrong Competes At State Swimming

Courtney Evensen placed third in two events at the Class AA state meet

 

The Armstrong High School girls swimming and diving team finished eighth overall at the Class AA state meet on Saturday in Minneapolis.

The Falcons finished with 113 points overall at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center. Defending champion Edina won the state title for the second straight year, racking up 316 points. Minnetonka took second a 188, and Stillwater took third at 171.

Armstrong’s Courtney Evensen took third place in both the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle to lead the team.

Brooke Evensen finished fifth in the 100 freestyle. The 400 freestyle relay took fifth overall, and the 200 freestyle relay finished sixth.

200 freestyle: 3. Courtney Evensen (1:49.92); 100 freestyle: 5. Brooke Evensen (52.55); 500 freestyle: 3. Courtney Evensen (4:59.78), 13. Emma Ruehle (5:12.46); 200 freestyle relay: 6. Brooke Evensen, Amanda Elder, Emma Ruehle, Courtney Evensen (1:37.73); 100 backstroke: 9. Brooke Evensen (58.66); 400 freestyle relay: 5. Courtney Evensen, Rachael Peterson, Emma Ruehle, Brooke Evensen (3:32.59).
