Marilyn Meese is 84 years old. She doesn’t have family in the Twin Cities. After living alone and really missing social interactions, (and decent meals other than PB&J!), Marilyn chose to move into Summit Place Assisted Living in Eden Prairie. There she has a team of individuals from Lifesprk who have changed her outlook on life.
“It’s about making sure our clients keep pursuing the things they love and enjoying the activities that make them who they are,” says Lifesprk CEO and founder Joel Theisen. “It was about using our innovative and proven process to help everyone shine on.”
One key element in this process is the relationship between Lifesprk’s Life Care Managers and their clients. Marilyn’s Life Care Manager is Suzanne Sem. Suzanne is someone Marilyn relies on to help shop for her, get her to appointments, fill medications, tell secrets too, and just be there when she needs someone to lean on.
Just this spring Suzanne asked Marilyn what activities she enjoyed in the summer months. Marilyn recalled her time on the golf league and how much she enjoyed getting out on the course. Suzanne then asked if she would like to golf at the Golden Valley Country Club? Marilyn said, “I wouldn’t even think about something like that because it wouldn’t happen.” Suzanne responded asking, “Would you like it to happen?”
With a yes from Marilyn, Suzanne and the folks at Lifesprk arranged for an afternoon lunch at the Golden Valley Country Club and a chance to step out on the course. The gorgeous weather, delicious lunch on the patio and beautiful setting served as proof to Marilyn that she can set goals and enjoy a rich, happy life. With the help of Lifesprk Marilyn has learned that even the seemingly impossible is possible!
